The 11+ exam requires a strong grasp of maths concepts, problem-solving skills, and time management. I focus on areas that are tested, such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems. I provide practice with past papers and exam-style questions, helping students become familiar with the types of questions they’ll face and how to tackle them efficiently. I also work on improving their mental maths and reasoning skills, which are crucial for success in the exam. My lessons are designed to build both knowledge and confidence, so students feel well-prepared for the 11+.
I regularly assess each student’s progress through practice papers and quizzes. This helps identify any areas that need extra attention and ensures they’re steadily improving. By the time the exam approaches, students will have had plenty of practice and will feel comfortable with the format and time constraints. I also provide feedback to both the student and parents, so you’ll know exactly how your child is progressing.
I have experience in tutoring the ISEB, 11+ CEM, 11+ GL, Independent entrance exams and I have successfully supported a number of students to gain entrance into a variety of different selective schools including Queen Elizabeth’s Boys School and Henrietta Barnett School.
I am confident in preparing students for:
11+ CEM
11+ GL

Independent entrance exams
YR 6 SAT
At this stage, I focus on building a strong foundation in essential maths concepts such as algebra, geometry, fractions, and problem-solving skills. My goal is to ensure students feel confident and prepared as they approach their GCSE years. I make lessons engaging by relating mathematical concepts to real-life situations, helping them understand the importance of what they’re learning. I also work on developing their independent thinking and study habits.
For GCSE, I focus on exam preparation alongside reinforcing core concepts. I work with students on understanding the syllabus, mastering topics like trigonometry, statistics, and quadratic equations, and ensuring they know how to apply these concepts to problem-solving questions. I also help them with past papers and exam techniques to boost their confidence and performance in the actual exam. Whether they’re aiming for a strong pass or striving for top grades, I adapt my lessons to meet their goals and pace.
A-Level maths is more advanced and requires a deeper understanding of complex topics like calculus, mechanics, and pure mathematics. I guide students through these difficult areas by breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and providing plenty of practice. A-Level is also about developing critical thinking, so I encourage students to explore different problem-solving strategies and understand why methods work, not just how to apply them. Many students need support transitioning from GCSE to A-Level, and I ensure that transition is as smooth as possible.
